International Talk Like Jar Jar Binks Day

A full segment of an episode of Star Wars: Detours was unexpectedly leaked yesterday on Reddit. There's a lot of humor, Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian, and most importantly Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks in the portion of the show released.

The episode starts with Dex, of Dex's Diner, meeting with an insurance droid, who is denying Dex's most recent claim for broken dishes, because the insurance company has added an exclusion to Dex's policy for "acts of Gungan." Cue Jar Jar Binks who bursts into the diner and knocks over a server droid, breaking even more dishes. Binks exclaims: ""Hi everybody, mesa need help, mesa have two dates on same night! Ahhhh!"

Binks is then knocked over by Zuckuss and 4-LOM who come in to rob the diner, hoping it will get them into the Bounty Hunter's Guild. Dex says if they're hoping for credits, they're out of luck, due to "Senator slapstick", prompting Jar Jar to pop up and exclaim: "Hiya everybody!"

The bounty hunters are ready to leave since there's no money for them, but then Jar Jar inadvertently gives them a new idea: "Whew! For a minute there, mesa thinkin' they wasa gonna hold us for some ransom."

Zuckuss and 4-LOM, then take the diner hostage. The Coruscant police show up, and Jar Jar is released as a token of good faith, saying as he's kicked outside: "Hiya there coppers. Them nice kidnappers in there be wantin' some ransom, if you be havin' any. Uh oh, mesa got two dates."

Ultimately the bounty hunters and Dex come to an agreement, where they blow up the diner, so Dex can get the insurance money and Zuckuss and 4-LOM can get the notoriety. Jar Jar is blown clear of the explosion shouting "Mesa still have two dates!"

There's no way of knowing how the video leaked, but almost 40 episodes of the show were supposedly finished before Lucasfilm was sold to Disney in 2012. These episodes have been shelved since that time with no indication that they will ever be seen by the general public. It is known that Ahmed Best provided the voice of Jar Jar for several episodes. For that reason alone, hopefully someday all of the episodes will be officially release in full. It'd be great to know what happens with Jar Jar's two dates at the very least.

You can check out the full clip if you're so inclined here. There's no telling if the video will be removed when Lucasfilm/Disney discovers it, so act quickly if you want to watch it.

Note: After this post was published, the video clip was indeed removed.
