International Talk Like Jar Jar Binks Day

Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Disney+ series which stars Ewan McGregor reprising his role as the titular character, is set to premiere next week. In a video for Vanity Fair to promote the series, several of the actors from the show were asked various Star Wars related questions. Most interestingly, to us at least, during the interview McGregor mentioned a desire to work with Jar Jar Binks' actor Ahmed Best again.

McGregor was interviewed alongside co-stars Hayden Christensen, reprising his role as Darth Vader, and Moses Ingram who portrays a new character named Reva Savander, an Inquisitor known as the Third Sister.

In the video, the actors are asked a number of questions including "How would you describe your character?" and "What unique challenges have you faced when working on a Star Wars project?"

At one point while answering one of the questions, Ewan bring up Best's name as one of the actors he worked with during the filming of the Prequels: "I got to work with Liam Neeson and Ahmed Best and Natalie Portman, and I had a great experience, you know, making those films."

Then towards the end of the video Ewan is asked the question: "If you could meet one Star Wars character, who would it be and why?"

McGregor immediately responds with: "Well, I'd like to meet Jar Jar again."

Ewan McGregor answers a question

He then further expounds upon the thought: "I loved working with Ahmed Best, who played Jar Jar Binks. Maybe we could bring him back."

At the very least, it's great to hear Ahmed Best getting some praise from one of his coworkers, and it's certainly not the first time. We have to wonder of course though, could this be some sort of hint or tease, that we might actually see Jar Jar in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series? It's not very likely, although there were early rumblings that Jar Jar would be in the show, there has been no indication that that was still the case after production on the series was shut down and the scripts were rewritten.

Ahmed Best has even indicated that he would not be in the show.

Still, we can hope. Perhaps it's being kept as a big surprise. And even if not, with McGregor expressing his interest in meeting Jar Jar again, perhaps it will eventually come to pass in another season of Kenobi or some other future project.

Whether Jar Jar is in the show or not, Obi-Wan Kenobi will premier on Disney+ on May 27th with its first two episodes, and we'll definitely be watching.
