International Talk Like Jar Jar Binks Day

There's a new Star Wars based game show coming to Disney+ and it's going to be hosted by none other than Jar Jar Binks performer Ahmed Best!

The show, called Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge, was announced Tuesday via starwars.com and will feature Best as a "a Jedi Master and mentor to the contestants." The show will "test young contestants’ abilities in the core Jedi principles of strength, knowledge, and bravery as they face thrilling and fun obstacles in an attempt to achieve the rank of Jedi Knight." Ahmed will have a droid co-host portrayed by Mary Holland.

Ahmed and his co-host, as well as several of the others involved in the creation of the show, took to Twitter to share the news.

This is great news all around. A game show taking place in the Star Wars galaxy sounds really fun, and we can think of no one better to host it than Ahmed Best.

There are still many questions to be answered regarding the show. The article state that it will premiere in 2020 but we don't know when exactly. There's no mention of how many episodes of the show there will be. Perhaps it will simply be an ongoing thing. It's said that Ahmed will be playing a Jedi Master. Will he be playing a character? If so what's the name of that character? Or perhaps he'll just simply be known as "Jedi Master Ahmed Best." Will there be a special episode of the show devoted to International Talk Like Jar Jar Binks Day? No? OK.

But of course the biggest thing we here at the official International Talk Like Jar Jar Binks Day website want to know is, will Jar Jar make any appearances? Presumably Ahmed isn't hosting the show as Binks, or that would have been mentioned in the article. It would also probably be pretty costly to have the host of a game show be CGI. But it seems like it would be a real waste to not occasionally use Best's alter ego on in some capacity. Even it's just something like a video Daily Double where Jar Jar gives some sort of hint or question that the contestants need to answer. (For that matter it would be really cool if other Star Wars characters came on the show from time to time. Yoda. Nien Nunb. Bib Fortuna. They could all pop in.)

Time, of course, will tell. Hopefully we'll learn more about the show soon. And hopefully we'll be able to watch it in early 2020 as opposed to later in the year.

While this isn't the Jar Jar Binks based series that we've been hoping for, it's probably the next Best thing. And we're super excited that Ahmed Best gets to return to that galaxy far far away, where he truly belongs.
