Star Wars: Jedi Temple Challenge to premiere June 3rd
Some exciting news was announced today on starwars.com: the Ahmed Best hosted Star Wars themed gameshow, Jedi Temple Challenge, will be premiering on June 3rd on StarWarsKids.com and the official Star Wars Kids YouTube channel.
In the show, Ahmed Best plays a new character, Jedi Master Kelleran Beq who, according to the official site, “guides players through three rounds of trials as they vie to become Jedi Knights and wield the iconic symbol of the guardians of peace and justice, the lightsaber.” There are 10 episodes in the show’s first season. The series will air weekly, with two episodes dropping on the 3rd.
Originally the show was supposed to air exclusively on Disney+, with an expected fall 2020 air date, however it seems like the decision was made to make it freely available earlier on YouTube to reach a larger number of kids and families during these trying times. The announcement on starwars.com quotes Lucasfilm’s senior director of Online Content & Programming, Mickey Capoferri, as saying: “With so many children and families home and looking to Star Wars for hope and entertainment, we wanted to make Jedi Temple Challenge available to as many young fans as possible by airing the series on our Star Wars Kids network for everyone to enjoy.”
Still no word on whether Jar Jar might make an appearance on the show, maybe to read a clue or something, but we’re hopeful. Either way Jedi Temple Challenge sounds really fun and we can’t wait to check it out.
