Watch Darth Jar Jar in LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy
Darth Jar Jar made his TV debut this fall, in the animated Disney+ series LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy.
Rebuild the Galaxy, created and written by Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit, and directed by Chris Buckley, takes place in a LEGO version of the Star Wars universe we all know and love.
The first episode introduces us to Sig Greebling, his brother Dev, and their friend Yesi Scala. Sig and Dev are nerf herders who work for Yesi’s farmer father. Dev and Yesi yearn to leave their home planet of Fennesa in search of excitement, while Dev is content with his life of herding nerfs and telling the stories of the galaxy’s heroes.
While tracking down a wayward nerf herd, the brothers stumble upon a Jedi temple. Sig, who secretly has Force powers (and who we later learn is a natural Force Builder, a subsect of the Jedi), uses the Force to pull a glowing LEGO brick out of the temple, at Dev’s prompting. We soon learn, from the temple’s guardian, Jedi Bob, that the brick is a special artifact known as the Cornerstone, and by removing it from the temple, Sig has created a new galaxy.

In this rebuilt galaxy Dev is an evil Sith Lord known as Darth Devastator who has no memory of Sig. He mercilessly rules the galaxy, and has a cadre of Sith apprentices to do his bidding.
In addition to Dev being a Dark Lord, pretty much everything about this new galaxy is different. The Empire is still in power, Ewoks are bounty hunters, Clone Troopers are clones of Admiral Ackbar, and Luke Skywalker is a slacker podracer pilot, on the water world of Tatooine.
Only the individuals inside the temple when it collapsed – Sig, Jedi Bob, and Sig’s droid Servo – are able to remember the old galaxy, and Sig sets out to try to restore things to the way they should be. (Eventually Jedi Bob admits that there is no going back, and that the new galaxy is here to stay.) Meanwhile Darth Dev wants to obtain the Cornerstone for his own nefarious purposes.

Towards the end of the second episode Dev and his Sithlords, flying the Dark Falcon, track down Sig. These dark versions of familiar heroes include Darth Rose Tico, Darth Nubs, Darth Kit Fisto, Darth Hammerhead, and, most importantly, Darth Jar Jar.
Darth Jar Jar (once again portrayed by Ahmed Best) exclaims “Mesa going to hurt yousa!” as he descends the Falcon’s ramp.
As episode 3 begins, the Sith attempt to capture Sig and his friends. Darth Jar Jar tracks them down, and wielding a double-sided lightsaber, exclaims that he is the Phantom Menace and has always been the Phantom Menace. Jedi Bob then uses the Force to pull down a large skeleton upon him, crushing, and possibly killing ,the Gungan Sith. Unfortunately, this is the last time we see Jar Jar in the show.
Ultimately, with the help of the Jedi, including Jedi Master Palpatine and a good Darth Vader in a white suit, and the Rebels, including Yoda and General Grievous, the Empire is seemingly defeated, Darth Dev is on the run, and a new Jedi Temple is built with the Cornerstone in place.

Sig sets out for adventure with his friends in this new galaxy, but, as the show ends, we see Darth Tico and Darth Rey hiring the Landolorian (Lando Calrissian as a Mandalorian bounty hunter) to capture Sig.
The show was really fun, and you should definitely check it out if you haven’t already. The only negative thing we can say, is that there wasn’t enough Darth Jar Jar in it. He only appears for a few minutes throughout the two episodes he’s in. It would have been great to spend more time with the evil version of our favorite Gungan, but, in the limited time he was on the show, he certainly was memorable.
Still, there’s some good news, because it seems like we’ll get to see Darth Jar Jar on our screens soon enough. A follow-up series, LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy: Pieces of the Past, was recently announced, with a premiere date of September 19th, 2025. Ahmed Best is expected to appear yet again as the evil Jar Jar.
