What if the mother that Leia claims to remember in Return of the Jedi was really just Jar Jar Binks masquerading as Padme?
On Natalie Portman’s Birthday, Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars films, took to Twitter to inform the world that he had never met Portman. Portman of course played his mother Padmé Amidala, in the prequel trilogy.
FUN FACT: I’ve never met this woman. https://t.co/YYIFku1CVQ

This lead to the following exchange, where I suggested that the “mother” that Leia claims to remember in Return of the Jedi was really Jar Jar Binks dressed up in a Padmé wig and dress:
Twitter seemed to really like this idea of Jar Jar acting as Leia’s mother, since this comment was retweeted and liked more than any other thing that anybody has ever tweeted before. This prompted me to ask if anyone wanted to take a crack at illustrating Jar Jar as Padmé. Friend of International Talk Like Jar Jar Binks Day Mrs. Binks then drew this wonderful piece of artwork (be sure to check out her Tumblr for more great Jar Jar/Star Wars related stuff):
This is exactly how I imagined it. What does everyone else think?
I for one really hope that Lucasfilm sees this and decides that this is the way things actually went down.
