Frozen 2 co-songwriter was also ‘Cousin’ Jar Jar
Frozen 2 is out today in the U.S. and many markets. The follow up to smash 2013 film Frozen, the film once again features numerous songs composed by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and her husband Robert Lopez.
What, you may be asking, does this have to do with Jar Jar Binks? Well we just wanted to remind everyone that Robert Lopez, before his work on Avenue Q, The Book of Mormon, or Frozen, voiced “Cousin” Jar Jar on musician Meco’s year 2000 hit “Cousin Jar Jar.”
Cousin Jar Jar tells the story of Jar Jar Binks going to a nightclub, where, upon being recognized, he pretends to be Jar Jar’s cousin instead. The song features such classic lyrics as “Excueeze me – mesa talkin to the wall, yousa havin’ trouble hearin, what’s wrong ya’ll? Didn’t yousa hearin’ what mesa just say? Jar Jar mesa cousin, okeyday?” and “Theresa no chance yousa get me on the floor! Mesa hearin Macarena, mesa heading for the door!”
A few years back we transcribed the lyrics to the song, which you can check out here.
Lopez’s wife appears to be a big fan of the song as well stating that it was “His finest moment” after we tweeted about Robert’s involvement with the song earlier today.
Although the song is difficult to find these days, it’s really worth listening to if you can find it. And be sure to check out Frozen 2 for some more icy fun and wonderful songs/music. As Elsa would say “Let’s go” to the theater.
